IMPORTANCE OF SALTING POND AND HOW TO SALT YOUR POND.

Salting pond is the simplest necessary action to be taken. Some people ignore that because they are not aware of its importance. 


Salting ponds helps in improving the water condition for the fishesControls & Prevents mortality from brown blood diseaseIncreases chloride level and Chloride concentration to 6 times that of nitrite in the water.

Salt effectively controls protozoans on the skin and gills of fish; it also enhances mucus production

Salt is also used for parasite control as we know there would be other water creatures in the water before our fishes arrive their new home. It's perfect if we clear the pond properly.

In order to achieve a good result, salting should be done before the fishes are stocked in the pond.


 PROCEDURES:

  1.  Get 3 packs of 50g dangote salt, mixed in a 20 liters of water

  2.  Stir properly until the salt is diluted

  3.  Pour the diluted solution in all part of the pond to enable it circulate effectively.

  4.  Leave the pond empty for 2-3 days then on the 4th day, you can stock the pond with the fishes. (fingerlings/juvenile standard)
